SDG 7: Affordable, Reliable, Sustainable and Modern Energy for All

Sustainable Development Goal 7 holds strategic importance for OSTIM Technical University, as it promotes the transition toward affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy systems by 2030. For the university, achieving SDG 7 is fundamental to ensuring universal access to clean and cost-effective energy services across academic buildings, laboratories, dormitories, and administrative units. By investing in renewable energy production, energy-efficient infrastructure, and smart consumption technologies, the university reduces dependency on fossil fuels, lowers operational expenses, and minimizes greenhouse gas emissions. SDG 7 aligns with the institution’s commitment to climate action and sustainable campus management, while also providing educational and research opportunities for students and faculty in fields such as energy engineering, smart technologies, and environmental design. In this regard, SDG 7 is not only a policy objective but also a core pillar in shaping a resilient, eco-efficient, and future-ready university environment.

Our everyday life depends on reliable and affordable energy. And yet the consumption of energy is the dominant contributor to climate change, accounting for around 60 percent of total global greenhouse gas emissions. Affordable and Clean Energy, achieving universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. This goal involves policies that promote renewable energy, improve energy efficiency, and ensure equitable access.

Decentralized Energy Systems

OSTIM Technical University promotes decentralized energy systems, including microgrids and off-grid solutions, particularly in remote and rural areas. Encourage the use of renewable energy mini-grids and solar home systems to provide electricity access to communities not connected to the national grid.

Grid Modernization and Smart Grids

OSTIM Technical University invests in the modernization of electricity grids to improve reliability, reduce transmission losses, and integrate renewable energy sources. Promote the development of smart grids that use digital technologies to optimize energy distribution, enhance grid resilience, and enable demand-side management.

Support for Renewable Energy Innovation

OSTIM Technical University fosters innovation in renewable energy by supporting research, development, and deployment of new technologies. Encourage partnerships between governments, academia, and the private sector to accelerate the commercialization of cutting-edge renewable energy solutions.

These policies aim to create a sustainable, equitable, and resilient energy system that provides affordable and clean energy for all. By prioritizing renewable energy, energy efficiency, and inclusive access, these recommendations contribute to the broader goal of sustainable development through clean energy.

OSTIM Technical University is committed to achieving 80% renewable energy by 2030.

OSTIM Technical University intends to realize further energy savings by paying close attention to energy management. All parts of the organization can assess their own energy consumption and realize their own energy-saving potential by means of, for example, insulation, LED lighting and the deployment of sustainable technology. OSTIM Technical University has preferred LED lamps for all indoor and outdoor lighting on campus.
